Continental

Continental is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of car tires and accessories, and to date, the corporation has approximately 200,000 employees in 53 countries. Continental was founded in Hanover, Germany in 1871. The first successes of the company came in 1898 with the development and production of automotive pneumatic tires with a gripper. Continental became the first company in the world to create anti-slip tires, similar to the later studded tires. The company also invented detachable rims for touring cars. In the late 1920s, the company merged with the then large companies in the rubber industry and formed Continental Gummi-Werke AG.
In the early 1990s, Continental launched the first environmentally friendly passenger car tires.
The company created the Automotive Systems category, as well as key technology for hybrid car propulsion systems. Nowadays, Continental is ranked in the top 5 of the best manufacturers of tires and car accessories in the world.
